Registered Counsellor
Service: Counsellor Where: The Gap

Christie is a person-centred and trauma-informed counsellor/psychotherapist who specialises in working with older adolescents and adults. Christie’s professional experience and areas of interest include anxiety, depression, bereavement, ambiguous grief and loss, relationship concerns, caring for loved ones living with Dementia, self-esteem, emotion regulation, stress management, postpartum adjustment and navigating life transitions.

Christie brings warmth and vibrance into sessions and is committed to building a therapeutic relationship in which individuals feel deeply seen and understood. Her approach is intentionally engaged, affirming, non-judgmental and compassionate, enabling individuals to safely explore and reflect upon their lived experiences. Christie utilises an experiential approach to facilitate self-awareness and reconnection to all parts of oneself. She believes that by bringing what is unconscious or blocked into awareness, individuals gain an opportunity to connect with their authentic experience and needs. Christie believes this to be an essential ingredient for mobilising one’s innate drive toward growth and healing.

Christie integrates different therapeutic frameworks based on client needs. She draws from attachment theory, somatic psychotherapy, positive psychology, affective neuroscience, psychodynamic theory, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Christie is offering free counselling sessions at the Young Minds Clinic in The Gap whilst completing the Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Australian College of Applied Professions.
